There are a number of side-effects associated with Imitrex. However for our discussion we are only concerned with the connection between Imitrex and coronary artery disease.
Imitrex And Coronary Artery Disease: Is There A Connection?
Part of the connection between Imitrex and coronary artery disease is Imitrex’s ability to constrict blood vessels. A person with coronary artery disease has clogged arteries. That means the heart is not adequately fed with oxygen and nutrients. A number of serious conditions can develop from this state including…
- Angina – chest pains which can be quite painful.
- Myocardial infarction – heart attack due to irreversible heart muscle damage.
- Congestive heart failure – a condition in which the heart cannot effectively supply the rest of the body with blood.
- Arrhythmia – irregular heart rate which can lead to sudden cardiac death.
To further constrict blood flow can increase the risk due to these conditions.
Heart Health Precautions
There are a number of precautions to consider when mixing Imitrex and coronary artery disease. The list is long but we will only concern ourselves with those precautions related to heart health.
If you are taking any dietary supplements (and I hope you are) you should tell your doctor before taking Imitrex. Also, if you smoke (and I hope you don’t) please tell our doctor.
