Heart Aneurism in the Left Ventricle of the Heart

by Bobbi Stein
(Dallas, Texas)

About a year and a half ago, my blood pressure was extremely high so I went to the emergency room of the hospital. After some testing, they decided to have me stay in the hospital for five days.

After many many tests, they found that I have an aneurism in the left ventricle of my heart. One cardiologist wanted to operate immediately so I went for another opinion and my doctor is watching it very closley.

My new doctor had me stay in another hospital for another 5 days and not only did they find the heart aneurism, they also found that I have cardio myopathy. That is the thickening of the wall of the heart. It is a hereditary disease and my father died of an instant heart attack at the age of 36. I imagine that's where I got this heart disease.

The doctors at Southwestern Medical insisted on putting a defibrillator in my heart. Fortunately, I have felt pretty good other than being extremely tired for all the heart medication.

Does anyone out there know anything about an aneurism of the left ventricle of the heart and what was the treatment? Please email me with any information that you have on this issue.

Thank you,
Bobbi Stein
