Heart Health For Those Who Love Life
Do you think heart health is only for the very young? Do you believe saying hello to middle-age means kissing a healthy heart goodbye?
Many people do.
We don’t have to think that way, do we? Having a healthy heart is most often a matter of choices. O.K… we’ve made some bad choices. But it isn’t too late.
You’ve Heard the Bad News
Heart disease is more and more making the headlines. Why? Because things have gotten that bad. Consider this:
- The incidence of some aneurysms has increased 3-fold in the past thirty years.
- In the U.S. 25% of the population has high blood pressure.
- One third of those who have high blood pressure don’t even know it.
- Obesity is on the rise even among children.
- Heart disease hit epidemic proportions in the 1990s.
And these are just the headlines. The fact is, as we continue to make the choices that are common in our culture the problems are only going to get worse.
So What Has Caused These Changes?
Again… choices.
Our environment has changed. Not only the environment we call the earth. But also the environment of our culture.
- We are not as active as we used to be.
- We don’t eat the same foods.
- Even the foods that look the same are different.
- We have become overly dependent on medications.
The list of course is longer. And it is this list that we will explore together on this website.
How Do We Begin To Move Back In The Right Direction?
Some of the answers are obvious, at least on the surface. The problem is we have heard them so many times we have become deaf to them. We have heard about smoking and diet and dietary supplements and exercise…
But we haven’t listened.
I haven’t listened.
I guess we both haven’t listened.
On this website we will consider together many of the challenges to optimal heart health. We will see many of the problems, what causes them, the solutions traditional medicine takes, and what actions we can take to promote our own heart health.
Some of the information is rather detailed. However, you can read the summaries of the parts that are less important to you. Where you want to dig deeper I have tried to provide enough detail.
Don’t try to absorb it all at once. Please visit often. Read some. Think about it. Come back and study some more.
I have provided many places where you can contact me. I want to help with your questions and hear your comments and suggestions. Just look to the bottom of any page.
Remember… many of the solutions are in our hands. It is all about choices. We have gotten ourselves into this mess. Let’s step up and take the necessary steps to get out of it. You can have optimal heart health.
By the way… Do you have your own story to tell about heart health? Have you learned something in your reading that you would like to share? If so you can have your own webpage right here on this site.
It is easy and fun. Click here to add your story.
